The Laboratory for the Digital Transmission and Global Communication of Chinese Civilisation, prepared with the HDT team, has been approved by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education.

Eight students of Asia's largest digital humanities summer school, run by HKUST with four partner universities, had projects approved by the National Social Science Fund, in a year when the College was also named a national exemplary case.

Xin Deyong, chair professor of history at Peking University, presented his new book Casting the Heavenly Emperor in a lecture at HKUST that drew nearly 3,000 views online. Students who attended received copies of the book.

HKUST hosted a public lecture by Cui Yan, a deputy to the National People's Congress and founder of the 3D digitisation company 4DAGE, on 3D spatial vision technology and its cultural applications. More than 70 staff and students attended.
