On 21 October the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education published its list of proposed humanities and social science platforms and projects for higher education institutions. The Laboratory for the Digital Transmission and Global Communication of Chinese Civilisation, prepared with the participation of the HDT team, was approved as a Guangdong Provincial Key Research Base in Humanities and Social Sciences — the highest category of research base at provincial level in China. The approval reflects the government’s recognition of the team’s research strength.
The HDT team’s work builds on its cooperation with Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University and its exchanges with other universities in the Greater Bay Area. The approval will add resources to the team, strengthen cooperation, and support the development of digital humanities at universities in the region.
